Ship Wrecked
Ship Wrecked is a series exploring the transformation of the human soul as we spiritually evolve through our experience on this planet. The work reflects on the growth, challenges, and tests we encounter through our relationships with other souls and with the world around us.
Through these sculptures, I explore the idea that even within our darkest moments, we can follow the light, a guiding force that lifts us through the darkness and the cold deep blue waters of our own consciousness. The wreckage becomes a metaphor for the places where we have been tested, broken open, transformed, and ultimately redirected on our journey.
The ships are constructed from the jawbones of cows, elk, and horses. Each vessel carries a mast and sail, becoming a symbolic body for the voyage of the soul. Some are adorned with copper roses, steel oars, anatomical hearts, or lanterns. Each element speaks to a different aspect of the journey: love, strength, vulnerability, endurance, and the light that guides us forward.
These vessels represent the soul in motion, weathering the unknown, navigating darkness, and continually searching for the light that carries us toward transformation.
